Board Authorizes Police Cruiser Purchase Despite Cost Split

NH RINDGE — Rindge Selectmen authorize police cruiser purchase on 2-1 vote. The board voted 2-1 on June 3rd to spend $64,963.50 from the Police Detail Revolving Fund for a new cruiser and pursue a second replacement for 2027. Police Chief Rachel Malynowski detailed the need: the 2017 cruiser has been out of service for five to six weeks with 107,000 miles, and repairs would exceed $7,000.
Chairman Larry Cleveland voted against, objecting to committing funds for a second cruiser without voter approval. Selectman Tom Coneys supported the motion, arguing the aging unit will likely fail within six to nine months and the board must plan ahead.
